Creepy Crawlies

Orbie

An Orb Weaving Spider, elected to make her claim
in my homely garden, so I've given her a name.

Decided to call her Orbie, been with me for a year
skilfully weaving her web, so intricate and sheer.

Amazing little arachnid, when she traps and kills her prey
what she can't eat now, she'll save for another day.

I'm told when she has babies, sadly she'll pass away
so I hope her little off-spring, will hang around and stay.

Orbie with her chain of food she is saving for later

Flowers Say it all

What can brighten someone's day or lift their spirits more
than the gift of fresh flowers?

These images are just some of the many beautiful,
vibrant flowers I have been fortunate to received...

The striking Frangipani varieties fall under the scientific name of Plumeria.

The Frangipani title derived from a sixteenth century
nobleman named Marquis Frangipani.
He created a unique perfume, extremely popular for
scenting gloves. When the flower arrived in Europe
shortly afterwards and produced a scent
similar to his perfume, the name stuck.

The strong, delicate white Frangipani flowers symbolise:
Strength to withstand tough challenges
Welcoming guests and inviting them to stay
(as used in Hawaiian leis)
Penetrating and everlasting love between two people
Eternal and spiritual devotion over multiple lifetimes

Frangipani flowers are chosen for:
Temple and home decoration
Weddings and special occasions
Lifting a friend’s morale during a difficult time
Connecting and honouring spirits of loved ones
Reminding yourself of the immortality of the soul

Researchers use Plumeria as a potential treatment for a variety
of health problems, including Cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

A message from the Frangipani flower…
Being delicate and beautiful does not mean you are
weak or incapable of rising to meet a challenge

The Purple Iris symbolises:
Grandeur, Faith, Wisdom, Hope and Bravery.
The Iris received its name from the
carried messages to the Gods over the
rainbow bridge between Earth and Heaven.
The Ancient Greeks began planting Purple Iris
flowers on the graves of their beloved women,
to entice the Goddess Iris to guide them
through their journey to heaven.

The bright Red Rose signifies romance.
The Red Rose signified courage and power during the ongoing
"Wars of the Roses" where it stood as the emblem for the
Royal House of Lancaster (1455 to 1487.)

Delightful Orchids

Pink "Stargazer" Lilies
Whenever I have Lilies in my house, I take numerous
photos as they open out a little more every day. The graceful,
oriental Pink Stargazer Lily symbolizes wealth and prosperity.

Bouquet offering warmth and love
Beautiful apricot colour Lilies enhanced with stems of
Silvery Blue Eucalyptus and sprigs of Baby's Breath
add a touch of warmth, happiness and love.

Time for a cuppa
I have to admit, I go through copious amounts of tea whilst
writing, though most of the time I'm so absorbed in my work
that my cuppa ends up cold.
Mauve and white orchestrate a soft, pretty and romantic
feel to a room and I love to crochet throws, to add a loving
warmth and coziness to my home.

Small display of Orchids, Roses and Red Anthurium
on my Japanese friend's dining table
Lively and vibrant, from my local
Woolworths store
Sometimes, when I pass by a florist, I just can't resist
buying myself flowers.
We deserve to pay respect and gratitude to our self,
just as we do to others.

My Garden

Wherever I roam, my pot plants go with me.

Consistently, I enjoy creating and surrounding
myself with a garden of sorts.
I find it so therapeutic and infusing with love
